TMCA announce new executive board and committee to improve TM industry standards

The Traffic Management Contractors Association (TMCA) have announced a changing of the guard earlier this year, bringing in a new executive team to focus on the strategic direction, as well as introducing a new committee whose purpose is to drive value for members and industry.

Greg Baldwin has stepped up from Vice Chair and now holds the position of Chair. Greg has over 10 years’ experience within the industry and has been an active member within the TMCA in the last 5 years. Greg says, “It’s a great honour to become the TMCA Chair and I’m looking forward to seeing what this new team can achieve. We are already fast at work developing key elements of the association to ensure that we remain relevant and in touch with our expanding and developing industry requirements. We are really keen to enhance how we are perceived in the industry and be the primary contact to all things traffic management.”

Following the change of leadership, Matthew Turner of Premier Traffic Management and Mat Field of City Traffic Management, will both step into the role of Vice Chair to support this change. This is the first time the association will have two vice-chairs and forms an important part of the association's new structure and maintaining continuity in the future. Both Vice Chairs bring differing expertise to the association and Greg Baldwin has commented how “Members will benefit hugely by having Matt and Mat as part of the Executive Board at the TMCA”.

Matt Turner commented: “As Vice Chair of the TMCA, I am committed to working collaboratively with Greg, Mat, and the wider association to improve industry standards, drive consistency, and make the traffic management sector a sustainable, appealing, and exciting place to operate a business. I have worked in traffic management for over 20 years and the industry has always been a dynamic and fast-paced sector which is constantly evolving. We have a range of plans to keep pace with this industry change and support innovation, service improvements, and better communication to deliver our vision for the Association.”

Mat Field, went on to add: “It gives me great pride to work alongside Greg, Matt, Belinda and the wider team in delivering a sustainable Association that can help drive change for the future. I have been in the Traffic Management Industry for over 25 years, and feel the experience and lessons that I have learnt within that time will benefit the association to achieve innovative ideas that will mould our future for many years to come. I am excited to be part of that future and to help take the industry forward.”

Belinda Sweet-Williams has taken over the Secretarial Role at the TMCA. Cookie as she is better known as, has made a big impact straight away in the role and has been key in reigniting the assications relationships with industry stakeholders, such as Lantra.

Keith Smith, also of Chevron Traffic Management, will remain in place as the association's Technical Officer, overseeing the technical aspects the association deals with, such as producing advice notes and guidance for members.

The committee, composed of various member companies, are a new element to how the association is run. Their job is to lead TMCA task and finish groups, represent members at industry meetings, and continuously find ways of adding value for members.

The new Executive Board and Committee already have a number of plans to further enhance the association by establishing a scalable structure in order to introduce new traffic management members and associate members, and introducing new forms of communication outlets to ensure that members and associate members alike are kept informed in regards to all things traffic management.
